What are the initial requirements for a licensed security or low voltage installer?

 

A license is required for any individual engaging in the business of installing, erecting, repairing or altering electrical equipment for the generation, transmission or utilization of electrical energy; however a specific exemption is provided in s 21-11-6 for any "work personally performed on a structure by the owner or occupant thereof." Regulations governing fire alarm systems are set forth in 29-3-12

Installers must be licensed. Low voltage exam required by state fire marshal.

Specialty license low voltage burglar and fire testing in West Virginia only.

What are the educational requirements of the State?

There are no state requirements for continuing education at this time.
