Requirements for electronic security employees:
Security Alarm: Company - Proof of registration with Montana Secretary of State, proof of employee training program, certificate of commercial liability insurance, and submission of photographs of employee uniform for Board approval; Employee - Proof of company training.
Fire: Company - verification of liability insurance; Employee - certification of completion of all the NICET work elements or completion of NICET II (verification sent directly from NICET); completion of state-approved apprenticeship program; completion of manufacturer training or applicant currently holds the equivalent of endorsement in another jurisdiction (see reciprocity).
How often does the license need to be renewed?
Security Alarm Installer: Annually (By March 1) - There are no requirements for continuing education at this time.
Fire Alarm: Annually (May 31); Employee - continued education requirements of a minimum of eight hours (60 minutes per hour) annually; earned education in excess of eight hours may be carried over into the succeeding year.
All of Elite CEU's license specific courses are approved in Montana for the renewal of a Fire Alarm Installer License.
