What are the initial requirements for an Electrical Journeyman?

An applicant must show proof of a minimum of 8000 hrs work experience. A minimum of 6000 of the completed hours must be commerical/industrial. A maximium of 2000 hours may be residential. Up to a 1000 hrs of trade related and/or 1000 hrs of power lineman experience may be used to meet the overall requirement. No maintenance hours apply.

With proof of hours, an applicant must submit an application which includes:

- all applicable fees

- proof of passing exam score

- hours of experience as stated above

What Elite CEU courses are approved for credit?

All Electrical Journeymen are required to obtain at least 16 hours of continuing education, a minimum of 8 CEU hours must include a comprehensive code class that reviews the entire NEC code. Training must be within the 24-month period preceding the date of request for renewal

Electrical Administrators are required to obtain 8 hours of NEC and/or eight hours of NESC continuing education depending upon license category(ies), every two years, based on the current state adopted codes or their latest revisions.
